Our next Indy Grit Community get-together features a Q&A session with Hope Nelson.
After playing as a defensive back in high school, Hope is currently the freshman student football coach for Franklin College. However, her goal is leading her off the sidelines and onto the field.
A recent Indy Star headline sums it up nicely:
”CHEERLEADER TURNED DEFENSIVE BACK HOPES TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT FRANKLIN COLLEGE”
Join us for a unique and gritty story in-progress as Hope shares her insight into the grit required to play as a defensive back in high school and the hard work she is doing to make history by playing for Franklin College. Don’t miss it!
Jon Beight, Executive Director of Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center, is leading an experiential learning exercise for all participants followed by an interview with Jon, moderated by Harry Howe. Jon is a recognized expert in experiential learning and outdoor education with nearly 20 years’ experience at Twin Lakes where he led the development of Challenge Mountain and introduced other learning experiences such as combat archery and human foosball.
The second Indy Grit Community get-together will take a deeper dive into the concept of grit and how it applies to daily life.
At the next event, we will have a panel discussion on the importance of grit with Doug Karr, CEO and Founder of DK New Media; Diane Brown, Principal at Archos Advisors; and Chris Hoyt, Founder of Apprenace. Matt Nettletonof Sandler Training is hosting our event at his office on Monument Circle (55 Monument Circle, Suite 350).
Join the IndyGrit.Community for their kickoff event on September 27 at The Speak Easy Downtown (47 South Meridian Street) from 9:00 to 10:30 am, catered by My Pretty Little Pretzel. Kristin Van Busum, Founder and CEO of Project Alianza, will be our speaker and facilitator for the event, which will include a practical exercise to improve your grittiness.
